Successful first outing at Lighten Up!

Mandolin, Wreggie, and Rocky all made the short trip to Latta Equestrian Center to compete at Lighten Up's first dressage schooling show of the year.
For Mandolin, it was her very first show and she overcame her first show jitters to get around the strange new arena with no major mistakes and ended up 2nd and 4th in her two trips down the centerline at Training Level 1 and 2. She will compete at Lighten up in April to see if she can improve her "jitters" and put in a test like she does at home! Just a few more miles in the show ring should do it.....
Wrendevouz, "Wreggie" as we know him, competed at Third Level for the first time (at only his 4th show ever)and ended 4th in a "Second Level and Above" class with a great score of 65% even though his rider (ah-hem)went of course!
Rock and Roll, or "Rocky" also showed Third Level for the first time, also in test and ended right behind Wreggie with a nice 63% and 5th place. We are so proud of our blooming Third Level stars!! Keep up the good work boys!

Emily and Mac shine in their first event of 2011!

Emily Matchett and her horse Macavity or "Mac" as we know him had a very successful first event of the season ending up 3 out of 32 in a very competitive Training Rider Division at the Southern Pines Horse Trails 1. She and Mac had a fabulous dressage score of 30 and ended on that score after a clean and fast Cross Country and a faultless Stadium.
We are so proud they train here at LKN dressage and we wish them continued success the rest of the season as we know this is only the beginning!! Go Mac and Em!!

Former LKN alumn Genuine Gem accels at the Upper Levels!

Good news from the show front!
Trish Riddick's former mount, Genuine Gem has blossomed under her new rider/trainer combo to produce awesome results at a National Level! As some of you may remember, Gem was Trish's young prospect that Elaine showed at Training and First Levels in 2003-2004. Gem was put up for sale in 2004, as she was not the right match for Trish, and found a wonderful Mom in Jennifer and with some wonderful training, she has had some super show ring results!
Last year, 2010, Gem was 2nd in the Hanoverian All-Breeds Awards in the entire country at the Intermediate 1 Freesytle with an average 69.342% with her new trainer, Cyndi Jackson. She was also 12th in the Nation USDF Horse of the Year Awards with a 69.342% at I-1....quite an accomplishment for our little "Flamingo". (Gem used to hold her front leg up to beg for a treat). Jennifer assures us that she still does her trademark "flamingo" all the time. We love it! Congratulations Gem and Jennifer and good luck in 2011!

2010 Show Results

We finally got into the swing of things show-wise at the end of last year with promising results!
Rock and Roll aka Rocky was the year end High Point First Level at Leslie Lytton's "Lighten Up" dressage schooling show series with a 73.888%!!! Rocky also won at Second Level with a 70.26 at the Lighten Up show in October.
Wrendevouz aka Wreggie won his first time out at Training Level in Sept at Lighten Up and was 2nd with a 66% at First Level. In October, he won the First Level High Point with a 71.666% just narrowly missing Rocky's High Point of the year by 2%. We'll take it!!
Rocky and Wreggie both made the trip to Williamston in November for the Region 1 USDF Championships where Elaine promptly broke her tailbone braiding Friday night! (FYI, do NOT try to hold your horses head down to braid forelock by standing on the leadrope on a ladder, duh!)Still, she managed to pilot Rocky around a First Level test with a 67% and 3rd place less than 12 hours after the fall! Wreggie's test on Saturday had to be scrapped for an emergency room visit (3 plus hours!)but pulled off an amazing 68% and 3rd place on Sunday at his first recognized show with a COMPLETELY incapacitated rider!!! He is an AWESOME boy!
We are eagerly awaiting the 2011 show season to build on LKN Dressage's success at the end of 2010!!
